Sunil joined CIBC in 2006 and has progressively taken on senior roles within the ABS team with transaction experience across a variety of asset classes originated in Canada, the U.S. and in Europe, including structuring transactions which provide funding for clients in multiple currencies. Over his 18-year tenure, Sunil has gained extensive experience across a wide range of asset classes, including consumer and commercial assets, and has successfully structured numerous innovative, first-of-their-kind transactions for clients. Sunil relocated to New York from Toronto in Jun 2025 to assume an expanded role overseeing U.S. ABS financing activities. His recent accomplishments include establishing the U.S. ABS financing business, launching a U.S. ABCP conduit, and expanding the team’s presence in the unsecured consumer, digital infrastructure and sponsor back-leverage financing sectors. Sunil has an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, a Master of Science degree from Iowa State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Mumbai. Prior to completing his MBA, Sunil worked in the United States as a Sales Engineer for a manufacturer of research instrumentation used primarily in the chemical industry.
