Sonal Patel joined Citi in 2021.  She is the North America Sales Head for Structured Finance/Capital Markets business development team and segment within Agency & Trust.  She will lead engagement and coverage execution across product/market segments for revenue growth across the region.  She has a wealth of capital markets, insurance and fund services experience and is a key thought leader within the industry with a strong view on evolving client and market needs.

Sonal has more than 20+ years of leadership and cross functional management expertise.  She is known for delivering sustainable results in revenue growth, operating efficiency and improved profit performance.  Sonal has experience across product development, business development, P&L expense management, operations and relationship management. She has worked with collateral managers, hedge funds, private equity firms, investment banks, and corporations with a focus on debt capital market, insurance and alternative fund services globally.  She has a proven track record of achieving strong new business results while building trusted, long term partnerships with external and internal partners.  

In 2019, Sonal worked for Ocorian as Managing Director of the Americas, Bermuda and Caribbean Business Development Group. She also worked at BNY Mellon and held numerous key business development and senior management roles within Issuer Services.   Her past roles include Strategic Client Group Head, Financial Institutions Business Group Manager, Managing Director for Sales and Relationship Management across the U.S.; Global Structured Credit Group Sales Executive; and Manager of the Global CDO Group.

Before joining BNY Mellon, Ms. Patel served two years with Ascent Meredith as a Senior Product Analyst where she helped implement investment and product strategies for the firm.

Sonal has received many accolades in her career, including nomination by the BNY Mellon’s members of the Women’s Bond Club for its Rising Star award, an honoree of 40 under 40 by the Feminist Press, and honored as a Chairman Circle Award winner, an award presented to individuals for outstanding client performance and management. She is an active member of Financial Women’s Association, Women’s Bond Club, and United Way.

Ms. Patel holds a BS in Computer Science with a Minor in Mathematics from Rowan University in New Jersey.
