Sonal Patel is a Managing Director and the North America Sales Head for the Structured Finance and  Capital Markets business development team within Citibank’s Agency & Trust division. Joining Citi in  2021, Sonal leads strategic client engagement and coverage execution across key products and  market segments, driving regional revenue growth and delivering tailored solutions to meet evolving  client needs. She is widely recognized as an industry thought leader with deep expertise spanning  capital markets, insurance, and alternative fund services. 

With more than 30 years of distinguished leadership and cross-functional management experience,  Sonal has consistently delivered sustainable revenue growth, enhanced operating efficiencies, and  maximized profitability. Her comprehensive background spans product development, business  development, P&L management, operations, and relationship management. Throughout her career,  she has partnered closely with collateral managers, hedge funds, private equity firms, investment  banks, and multinational corporations to deliver debt capital market and alternative fund services  globally. 

Prior to her tenure at Citi, Sonal served as Managing Director of the Americas, Bermuda, and  Caribbean Business Development Group at Ocorian in 2019. She also spent a significant portion of  her career at BNY Mellon, where she held several senior business development and executive  management roles within Issuer Services. Her leadership positions there included Strategic Client  Group Head, Financial Institutions Business Group Manager, Managing Director for Sales and  Relationship Management (U.S.), Global Structured Credit Group Sales Executive, and Manager of  the Global CDO Group. Sonal began her career as a Senior Product Analyst at Ascent Meredith,  where she spent two years implementing investment and product strategies. 

Sonal has received numerous accolades, including a nomination for the Women’s Bond Club "Rising  Star" award by BNY Mellon members, selection as a Feminist Press "40 under 40" honoree, and the  prestigious Chairman’s Circle Award for outstanding client performance and management. She is an  active member of the Financial Women’s Association, the Women’s Bond Club, and United Way. 

Sonal holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a Minor in Mathematics from Rowan  University.
